The biopsychosocial model acknowledges the existence of many ways to avoid or treat health problems. It is a way to address the psychological, social and biological factors that impact health. It allows you to better manage and treat health issues. However, there are some drawbacks. Critics point out that health problems cannot be treated solely at a physiological level. Additionally, it can be particularly applicable to the complex interplay of social, psychological, and biological factors. In order to be able to understand the complex interactions among these factors they were utilized in a scoping review. The biopsychosocial approach is similar to the socio-ecological model. The main distinction between the two models is the fact that the biopsychosocial one emphasizes the interdisciplinarity of its approach and allows for multiple factors to be examined simultaneously.
